The Metis Nation of Saskatchewan is demanding that the police officers implicated in the Neil Stonechild affair be immediately fired.

Constables Len Hartwig and Bradley Senger were suspended earlier this week by Saskatoon police chief following the release of the report into the death of Stonechild.

Senger’s lawyer has already said he expects his client will likely be fired as early as next week.

Hartwig has promised to defend himself accordingly if he’s the subject of any legal action that implicates him in the case.

In a press release issued yesterday, the MNS also states that it should be obvious to Saskatchewan’s justice minister that the current justice system is not working and fundamentally flawed.

The organization asks the province to recognize and respect Metis governance and jurisdiction with regards to policing and justice issues.
