The Metis Nation – Saskatchewan says it will be participating in discussions about nuclear waste storage in the province.
The MN-S has signed a funding agreement with the Nuclear Waste Management Organization, which will provide the MN-S with funding for a series of consultation meeting with Metis people, to be held across the province this fall.
The MN-S says these discussions will be about site selection criteria for a nuclear waste storage facility in the province; Metis citizens will not be asked to actually select a site at this point.
The MN-S says it has an obligation to participate in these discussions, and goes into them with a neutral position on used fuel storage in the province.
