The role of the Metis Nation – Saskatchewan Senate is changing as a result of a decision made Tuesday.

During the MN-S legislative assembly in Saskatoon, delegates voted to alter the Senate’s duties.

It will now concentrate on preserving Metis culture and traditions, rather than serving as a sort of dispute-solving mechanism.

MN-S President Robert Doucette approves of the change.

Doucette says members of the MN-S Senate themselves asked to have their role altered.
