MLTC’s Gladue wins narrow first ballot victory

Flying Dust’s O’Neill Gladue has narrowly won another term as the Meadow Lake Tribal Council’s Cree vice chief.

 

Gladue edged his only competitor Brian Opikokew of the Canoe Lake Cree Nation by just two votes to win on the first ballot in yesterday’s voting.

 

Canoe Lake’s Wayne Iron was also expected to run for the position, but dropped out of the race before the nomination meeting.

 

Gladue has been an vice chief with the MLTC for the past 21 years.
