An arm of the Meadow Lake Tribal Council is expressing interest in the possible conversion of the Prince Albert Pulp Mill.

The province, Domtar, and Iogen Energy are looking at the possibility of converting the mothballed pulp mill into an ethanol production plant.

It would turn straw into ethanol – fuel for vehicles.

MLTC Resource Developments CEO Ben Voss says the tribal council is interested in possibly being a partner in that venture.

Voss says they’d need to see the details first. So, they’re anxious to see the results of a feasibility study that’s underway.
