The Meadow Lake Tribal Council is getting a helping hand with its forestry division.

The federal government has awarded the tribal council $355,000 to help it evaluate its sawmill and wood-harvesting operations.

The money comes out of the Western Economic Diversification fund.

Minister responsible, Lynn Yelich, says the money should help the tribal council cope in these troubled financial times.

The MLTC has stakes in a number of businesses, including Mistik Management and Norsask forest products.
