The Saskatchewan Party candidate for the riding of Meadow Lake won’t run in the next provincial election.

Ty Rutzki, the general manager of Mistik Management, is apparently too busy to fully devote himself to the upcoming campaign and is stepping aside in favour of another candidate.

Saskatchewan Party executive director Bob Mason stresses the decision was made solely by Rutzki himself, and the party had no problems with his candidacy.

Mason says he’s sorry to see Rutzki go, but believes his knowledge of the forestry industry will be a valuable asset for the party in the future.

The party plans to hold another nomination meeting as soon as possible.

The Meadow Lake riding is currently held by longtime NDP MLA Maynard Sonntag.
