Some court officials could be in hot water over the mistaken release of a First Nations man deemed dangerous to the public.

29-year-old John Albert William Dumont was released from custody Wednesday after being acquitted on a robbery charge in a Regina court.

However, he is still facing a robbery charge in Prince Albert, and justice officials say he shouldn’t have been released.

The Minister of Corrections, Public Safety and Policing is investigating how the mistake was made, and says there could be disciplinary action taken.

The government says anyone who knows of Dumont’s whereabouts should not approach him — but instead, contact police.

Dumont has been known to frequent Prince Albert, Balcarres and File Hills in the past.
