An administrator with the Fond du Lac First Nation says the community is in mourning, with the discovery of a young woman’s body near the local airport yesterday afternoon.

CEO Darryl McDonald says a community vigil and prayer services have been held at the local band hall, as community members remember 26-year-old Amy Adam.

RCMP confirm that Adam’s body was found by local searchers around 2:15 yesterday, but word had not yet reached the band hall by the time another search party set out.

Her body was located in the middle of a trail leading to a bushy area, just south of the airport.

McDonald says grief and trauma counsellors are available at the local health clinic, for anyone who needs them.

A police spokesperson confirms that Adam’s death is not considered suspicious.

Adam had been grieving the recent death of her brother, and after she had not been seen for a couple of days, family members grew concerned.
