NDP Cabinet Minister Eldon Lautermilch says he’s disappointed Weyerhaeuser is refusing to push back its shutdown of the Prince Albert Pulp and Paper Mill.

Last week, Lautermilch called on the company to keep the mill open past its shutdown date of April 13th. However, the company says it won’t do that, adding it has done all it can for the struggling operation.

Lautermilch disagrees saying they haven’t gone the extra mile.

He adds both the workers and the government are prepared to sit down with the company and think up ways of reducing the financial burden on the company. But Weyerhaeuser needs to compromise on its shutdown schedule first.
