Cameco and AREVA subsidiary, Cogema are holding their Uranium mining public consultations both this week and next in Northern Saskatchewan.

AREVA spokesman Al Richards says they generally get a good number of people out for the consultations from people interested in what’s happening in the mining industry.

Richards says the consultations also gives northern communities the opportunity to voice any concerns they may have about mining in the north and to get answers on a number of different issues surrounding mining in general.

Richards adds there are some expansions going on this year including work at the McLean Lake Mine.

Consultations kick off today in Uranium City at 4pm carry on tomorrow in Fond Du Lac, Wednesday in Stony Rapids and close out the week in Hatchet Lake. Meetings will continue again next week in the North West.
