Mine Decommissioning Guidelines Getting Upgrade

The provincial government is about to update its guidelines for decommissioning mines in northern Saskatchewan.

The guidelines the province uses now were published back in 1995, and Saskatchewan Environment spokesman Rob Kidd says they owe it to industry to make those more current.

Kidd also feels the current guidelines are a little vague.

He says the entire process could take a year, but will involve the northern public at some point.
