The Sakitawak Michif Square Dancers of Ile-a-la-Crosse took part in last week’s Annual International Folk Festival in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Group spokesperson Liz Durocher says the Canadian co-ordinator for the festival contacted her group and requested them to represent the Metis people.
She says the young dancers were exposed to different cultures from around the world, adding it was a real learning experience for them.
The Ile-a-la-Crosse group consists of 14 young square dancers, who range in age from 5 to 14 years.
They are also two-time Western Canadian Square Dance Champions.
