A member of the Metis Nation – Saskatchewan executive says this week’s protest at a Metis employment and training centre in Saskatoon is a slap in the face to the students and workers who rely on its services.

Ralph Kennedy says former board members and staff who seized control of the building two days ago are doing a grave disservice to its users.

On Monday, 15 Metis dissidents began their sit-in to protest what they say is the Metis Nation’s heavy-handed tactics in dealing with METSI staff.

However, Kennedy says its the protesters that are in the wrong by adversely affecting operations in that building.

A spokesperson for the protesters says they are doing their best to provide services to people using the METSI office.

The demonstrators also say they won’t stop protesting until the federal government steps in and takes control of the entire METSI operation.
