An executive has been chosen for a Metis women’s advocacy group that’s been dormant the last few years.

Monelle Bailey is the new president of the Metis Women of Saskatchewan.

Bailey was voted into office this past weekend in Saskatoon at the Saskatchewan Metis Women’s Governance and Culture Provincial Gathering.

Joining Bailey on the executive are vice-president May Henderson, secretary Pat Letandre and treasurer Pat Caron.

The group has been known as La Femme de Madeline in the past, but it hasn’t been operating due to the fallout from the controversial 2004 MN-S election.
