A Metis D-Day veteran from Cumberland House will be visiting with royalty this weekend.
Princess Anne will be taking part in several functions in Regina this weekend with a number of Saskatchewan D-Day vets, including 86-year-old Charlie Fosseneuve.
Fosseneuve was among the thousands of Canadian soldiers that landed on Juno Beach in the D-Day invasion on June 6th, 1944.
He has since made his living as a hunter and trapper in his home community.
Fosseneuve’s story will be featured on CTV Saskatchewan’s “Indigenous Circle” program this Sunday evening at 6:30.
The program will also document the ongoing struggle for recognition of Metis veterans and their fight for federal compensation for post-war benefits the vets say they were denied.
