Village council in Buffalo Narrows will decide tonight what it plans to do about the Metis sign controversy.
About 10 days ago, local Metis Nation officials erected a sign saying, “Welcome to the Metis Community of Buffalo Narrows”.
Mayor Bobby Woods thinks the sign is disrespectful to non-Metis living in the village and he wants it to come down.
However, Woods says village councillors realizes they should ask community residents how they feel about the sign, and he says it’s likely council will decide on a date tonight for a public meeting.
Woods is also not ruling out the idea of holding a referendum or plebiscite on the issue.
