Metis Leader Satisfied With Election Proposal

The acting president of the Metis Nation of Saskatchewan says he supports plans for a new election.
Guy Bouvier says it’s been a long three years since the last MNS vote was held in 2004.
He says the reason why he’s agreeing to a new vote now is because an independent oversight committee has agreed to hold a legislative assembly of Metis local presidents before a general assembly of Metis citizens.
He plans to meet with organizers early next week to discuss issues related to how local presidents will be recognized at the upcoming MNLA.
Plans for a new Metis election temporarily fell apart earlier this year when the Provincial Metis Council balked at some of the proposals submitted by the oversight committee.
