A consultation meeting on the future of the Metis Nation – Saskatchewan constitution was held in Prince Albert last night.

The event was hosted by MNS executive member Allan Morin, at the Cosmo Lodge in Little Red River Park.

Morin says he’s been to a handful of the sessions so far this month, and the feedback has been good.

He says most citizens have told him the process is long overdue.

“From all the meetings I’ve been at so far, the people are saying to me, ‘It’s about time that we review the constitution and we streamline the constitution. It’s about time that we (as leaders) get the direction and the engagement of the grassroot people,'” Morin says.

Morin says the MN-S hopes to conclude the first round of consultations by mid-October, and then to introduce their findings at a legislative assembly in November.

After that, a second round of consultations will take place, likely in the winter.
