Metis health care has been selected as the latest field to receive grants from the National Aboriginal Achievement Foundation.

One million dollars in scholarship money is flowing out to 172 Metis youth studying to be doctors, nurses and other health care professionals.

The size of the bursaries vary from $1,600 to just under $10,000.

Foundation CEO Roberta Jamieson says all Aboriginal youth should realize additional grants are available, if they apply.

The deadline to apply for a scholarship in the field of oil and gas training is April 30th, while fine arts students have until May 1st to apply.

In all, the foundation has handed out $32 million in grant money.
