Metis Gathering Begins Today in Northwest

The province’s westside is going to be busy over the next fews days as Metis head to South Bay Veternas Park for a major gathering.
Some of the issues they’ll be examining include hunting rights, health, governance, and land-claims.
Organizer Don Favel says many west side Metis are also wondering if jobs will materialize out of a forestry management agreement given to northwest communities some time ago.
Favel says there is also talk of a northwest-area Metis office being established.
Organziers say they expect participation from several communites in the north, but are also hoping to see government representatives from the south in attendance.
