This past weekend’s John Arcand Fiddlefest near Saskatoon has been described as a complete success.
Organizer Vicki Arcand isn’t sure how many people attended the festival, but believes estimates there may have been as many as 2,200 spectators.
Arcand says 900 people attended the main concert Saturday night alone, and a good flow of Aboriginal youth made its way in and out of the festival grounds all weekend.
Arcand also says jigging took over from fiddling this year as the most popular event.
She adds more Aboriginal youth than ever took part in the fiddlefest.
The event is in its eighth year.
