Metis Fiddler Performs On Saskatoon Rooftop

Downtown Saskatoon was filled with more than just traffic noise yesterday . . . all to raise a roof.
For more than three hours yesterday, the “Master of the Metis Fiddle” was perched on the roof of a downtown Saskatoon building.
Accompanied by guitarist Freddie Pelletier, John Arcand did what he does best to raise money for his annual fiddle festival.
The ROOF campaign is trying to raise $300,000 so that the fiddle fest will have a permanent building, rather than large tents.
Arcand’s wife, Vicki, says the campaign has already generated enough funds already to level the land they need.
Arcand says yesterday’s “Fiddler on a Roof” event raised awareness and kicked off another campaign that will see Metis leaders across the province try to raise money for the project.
