Metis Election Appeal Results Expected Soon

Appeal results from this year’s Metis Nation – Saskatchewan election have encountered a slight delay.

Senators on the Metis Elections Commission have been deliberating over the appeals for roughly one month now.

They had hoped to release some of the results this week, but according to their lawyer, Clark McKay, that idea has been been put on hold.

Mckye says not all of the appeals have been ruled on, and the Senators aren’t prepared to release them in a piecemeal fashion.

He says the plan now is to wrap up all of the appeals before any winners are announced, and he hopes that process will be completed by next week.

He adds all the appellants and respondents concerned will be contacted directly with the results.

However, he’s not sure if any of the decisions will be released to the public.
