Two prominent Metis citizens, James Kennedy and Jeffrey Morin, passed away earlier this week.
Metis Nation – Saskatchewan President Robert Doucette sends condolences to the families on behalf of the MN-S, and says both men will really be missed.
Doucette says Kennedy always tried to engage youth and make his community better for Metis people, while Morin lived a traditional way of life and fought tirelessly for Metis rights, especially with regards to residential schools.
A wake is being held today for Kennedy at the Flying Dust gymnasium, and his funeral will be tomorrow in Meadow Lake.
A private funeral will be held for Morin.
