Metis Citizen Proposes Election Watchdog

A grassroots member of Saskatchewan’s Metis Nation is calling on the MNS to overhaul its election system.

Lisa Gariepy says the creation of an election watchdog would make the most sense, as it would give residents like herself more faith in the system that has recently been besieged by controversy.

Gariepy says Saskatchewan Metis leaders won’t have as much regard or respect as other Canadian Metis leaders until they create a system that is transparent and more accountable.

She feels the creation of an election watchdog would also do a lot to erase voter apathy in the Metis community.
