The director of an eastern Métis-area in the province says she’s uncomfortable with recent comments made by disputed Metis Nation provincial president Dwayne Roth.

Helen Johnson of the Melfort-Humboldt area says recent media reports of Roth’s plan to disrupt the Queen’s visit, make it sound like he’s speaking for the whole province.

She contends Roth has done nothing to earn the trust of many provincial Métis, and her area recently held a meeting over the issue.

Johnson adds land-claims are an important issue to all Métis in Saskatchewan, and her members understand the concern.

However she objects to pushing forward any strategies that don’t include a group-wide consultation.
