Metis and Francophones Set To Hold Annual Dialogue

From Sept. 11 to 13, Metis and French Canadian residents of the western provinces will be meeting in North Battleford.
They will be there for the third edition of the Travelling Roundtable of Francophones and Metis of Western Canada.
The purpose of the meeting is to help the two groups understand and trust each other better.
They hope to accomplish that goal by talking to each other, and by sharing their culture through art and dance.
Co-chair Henri Bouvier says there is no set agenda — people just share their ideas.
Co-chair Viola Bell says the roundtable gets pretty emotional for participants, as both groups talk about the challenges of being a minority.
This is the roundtable’s third year. The first one was held in Regina, and last year, the event was held in Willowbunch.
