A Manitoba chief is urging his counterparts to rethink a strategy of blockading rail lines this summer.
Ovide Mercredi, a former national chief of the Assembly of First Nations, says Aboriginal people trying to press the government for more help need the public’s support.
Mercredi acknowledges that last month’s federal budget was the second in a row that ignores Aboriginal communities.
But he says frustrated Aboriginal people shouldn’t consider doing anything that will anger the public.
