A meeting will take place in Ile-a-la-Crosse tomorrow for former students of the community’s boarding school.

Tony Merchant, a Regina-based lawyer specializing in the compensation claims process for residential school survivors, will chair the session.

He says the Ile-a-la-Crosse school is in a different situation than most because the federal government has failed to include it on the list of schools eligible for compensation.

Merchant says lawsuits are underway, and local residents should attend the meeting if they have questions.

He also claims the former students don’t really have any other recourse but to join the class action suit.

The meeting starts at 11:00 a.m. tomorrow morning at the community hall.
