Gary Merasty has once again been declared the winner in the riding of Desnethe-Missinipi-Churchill River.
After three days of a judicial recount in Prince Albert, the Liberal candidate was deemed to have finished 67 votes ahead of the Conservative’s Jeremy Harrison.
Clerks from Elections Canada tallied 10,191 ballots for Merasty and 10,124 for Harrison.
The margin of victory was six votes closer than the initial total on election night.
88 ballots were judged to have been spoiled, which is 13 less than the night of January 23rd.
Meanwhile, the lawyer for Jeremy Harrison says his client will now reassess his legal options.
Tom Barlow says Harrison could apply for a controverter election ruling, but it’s too soon to say for sure.
Barlow says many of the irregularities alleged in last month’s election, weren’t addressed by the recount.
