Meadow Lake ER To Remain Open

The emergency room at the Meadow Lake hospital is staying open.

That’s the message coming from officials with the Prairie North Health Region.

For the past few weeks, officials have been working to alleviate a pending doctor shortage at the clinic.

Barb Jiricka, vice-president of integrated health services at Prairie North, says they have managed to fill some gaps in service, and the ER will stay open 24 hours a day.

She says some patients dealing with less urgent matters may wait in hospital overnight for a physician to see them the next day, or have an appointment booked in another location.
