A La Ronge man whom police say killed his father in a domestic dispute is headed for trial.

Lawrence Eugene McKenzie, 44, is accused of committing manslaughter, resulting in the death of his father, Lawrence Edward McKenzie, 68.

After a preliminary hearing conducted over several days this week, McKenzie was set to stand trial in the Prince Albert Court of Queen’s Bench.

The trial date has not yet been released.

Police say McKenzie senior was attacked in his home on March 10, and was found unconscious on his bed several hours later.

He died of his injuries nearly two weeks later, which resulted in the charges against McKenzie junior being elevated from aggravated assault to manslaughter.
