The CRTC has approved MBC’s application to expand to Regina.

Missinipi Broadcasting Corporation CEO Deborah Charles says that means listeners in Regina will be able to hear MBC on the airwaves by December or January.

Saskatchewan’s Aboriginal radio network is based in La Ronge, and is currently heard in Saskatoon, Prince Albert, North Battleford, Meadow Lake, Yorkton, every community in northern Saskatchewan and a few scattered reserves throughout the province.

The CRTC has also approved applications by Aboriginal Voices Radio to expand to Saskatoon and Regina.

AVR is a national Aboriginal radio network based in Toronto.

Meanwhile, the federal regulator has rejected a proposal by Rawlco and Hildebrand for another Aboriginal radio station in Saskatoon.
