A northern mayor is unhappy with how the North’s share of revenue sharing grants will be split up.

In Wednesday’s provincial budget, the government announced that 1 million dollars would be going to northern municipalities.

Most of that will go to the Northern Revenue Sharing Trust Account for sewer and water upgrades.

Ile-a-la-Crosse mayor Max Morin says only 175-thousand dollars will be designated as operating grants for northern municipalities — a figure northern mayors were hoping would be a lot higher.

Morin says the end result is that 35 northern municipalities have to split 175-thousand dollars, instead of 1 million.
