A northern man who lost his bid for presidency of the Metis Nation in this spring’s election had his appeal heard yesterday.

Alex Maurice talked at length to the three senators making up the Metis Elections Commission at a hearing held behind closed doors in Prince Albert.

During a session that took most of the day, Maurice called witnesses and submitted evidence of various irregularities he claims to have witnessed during the vote of May 26th.

Maurice says most of his objections concerned procedural errors he feels some of his opponents made at various points of the election.

Maurice also has several concerns regarding how the mobile polling stations were used during the election.

Maurice says he has full respect for the senators making up the elections commission and he feels justice will be served.

Robert Doucette, the other candidate slated to be heard yesterday, saw his hearing bumped back to Friday.
