Man Presumed Dead Following Reserve House Fire

RCMP are investigating what appears to be a fatal house fire on the Ahtahkakoop First Nation.

Emergency crews responded to the blaze around 5:00 this morning.

One man escaped from the fire, but another man, aged 42, is still missing.

RCMP Sgt. Brad Kaeding says authorities suspect he didn’t make it out of the house.

Kaeding says investigators are still trying to piece together what happened, and will begin combing the wreckage in the house as soon as it’s safe to do so.
