A 42-year-old man is in critical condition following a hit-and-run near the Peepeekisis First Nation last night.

The RCMP say the victim was struck by a vehicle one mile north of Highway 10 just after 6:00 p.m.

He was initially taken to the Balcarres hospital with serious injuries, but was eventually transferred to a hospital in Regina.

The Mounties say the vehicle that struck the man fled the scene.

Corporal Rob Embree says a 42-year-old man believed to be the driver was arrested without incident after the suspect vehicle was found outside a reserve home.

The RCMP say alcohol was a factor in the collision.
