Man Hurt In Fight Dies In Hospital

A Meadow Lake-area man may soon be facing more serious charges now that another man injured in a fight has died.

22-year-old Kyle Villeneuve was charged with aggravated assault after a fight in Meadow lake last Saturday.

He remains in custody.

The victim, 43-year-old Joey Merasty, passed away Wednesday in a Saskatoon hospital.

RCMP spokesperson Sgt. Carole Raymond says now that Merasty has passed away, the charge against Villeneuve might be upgraded.

The RCMP are continuing to investigate.
