Man Fatally Stabbed At Big Island Lake Reserve

The Big Island Lake Cree Nation, formerly the Joseph Bighead First Nation, is the scene of a homicide investigation.

The RCMP say they received a call of a stabbing at a reserve residence at around 1:30 this morning.

Mounties attempted CPR on the 22-year-old male victim and an ambulance was called, but he was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital in Cold Lake, Alberta.

A 21-year-old woman from Big Island Lake was arrested at the scene of the stabbing.

Charges have not been laid.

The RCMP’s Major Crimes Unit and the Forensic Identification Section have been called in to help assist the Pierceland RCMP in the investigation.

No names have been released.
