A 55-year-old man from the Big River area has been charged in connection to a recent incident on Delaronde Lake that saw some fishers complain of nearby gunfire.

The RCMP say some individuals were in a boat on the lake in the late afternoon of May 18th, when a gunshot was fired in the area where they were fishing.

The fishers went to a nearby resort, where they spoke with local Mounties.

The suspect was arrested and a weapon was seized early the following morning.

He has been charged with one count of careless use of a firearm.

The accused will appear in court this coming Monday in Big River.
