Low-Income SIAST Students Getting Housing Help

A sod-turning ceremony took place in Prince Albert today for a new student housing complex at SIAST.

The $6.9 million facility will house 36 low-income families, many of them Aboriginal.

Cameco has pledged $200,000 towards the project.

The company’s vice-president of social responsibility, Gary Merasty, says it just makes sense for Cameco to help Aboriginal students along when over half of the company’s workforce is from northern Saskatchewan.

The bulk of the funding is coming from the provincial government.

The facility is expected to be built by late next year.
