Louis Riel Day Celebrated In Saskatchewan

The life and accomplishments of a famous Metis leader are being celebrated today across the province.

It was 122 years ago today that government leaders hung Louis Riel.

Metis Nation – Saskatchewan President Robert Doucette says Riel’s accomplishments are legendary and the country is a better place today because of his efforts.

The Saskatoon-based Central Urban Metis Federation is one of several groups hosting functions today commemorating Riel’s life and accomplishments.
