The Public Works Director with the Lac La Ronge Indian Band says he’d like to see an expert on water systems touring the North on a regular basis.
Louis Layton says having a full-time circuit rider would provide water operators with the chance for more training, while at the same time, giving residents more assurances their systems are up to par.
Layton says providing maintenance for the water systems is an especially tough task because some contractors will charge thousands just to travel there.
However, he says he supports the idea of having national standards brought to reserves across the country.
