Little Red Residents Warned About Dam Release

Residents of the Little Red River reserve and surrounding area are being asked to take precautions to protect their property from increased water flows.

The Saskatchewan Watershed Authority says because it’s concerned with the level of spring runoff into Anglin Lake, it will be increasing the amount of water that flows from the Spruce River Dam today.

Water is also being released from Emma Lake and Christopher Lake for the same reason.

The authority says the downstream areas that will be affected include the Rural Municipalities of Buckland, Paddockwood and Lakeland.

The SWA says the release will continue throughout the spring melt, and will be gradually reduced as lake level conditions improve.

It also says it will monitor downstream impacts on an ongoing basis.
