Little Red Residents Report Funnel Cloud Sightings

The Little Red River reserve was struck by a violent thunderstorm Monday night.

Resident Hume Merasty says the community was hit by rain, hail and strong winds, rocking several trees in the area and littering the ground with branches.

Merasty and at least one other resident on the reserve insist they saw a funnel cloud in the area.

But Environment Canada spokesman Bob Cormier says his agency doesn’t have any record of that taking place.

However, Cormier notes a funnel cloud was sighted north of Blaine Lake the same night.
