A woman from Stanley Mission is the talk of her community after winning the North’s largest snowmobile rally for the second year in a row.

This past weekend, Sandra McKenzie finished in a tie for first with Patuanak’s Pauline Aubichon.

They each took home $12,500 for coming up with a full house, sevens over eights.

Last year, McKenzie won $20,000 for finishing with the top hand.

Stanley Mission’s Debbie McKenzie had the third-best hand this year, taking home $4,000.

Organizers say 1,130 snowmobilers took part in this year’s poker rally, some from as far away as Edmonton.

The proceeds will be used for youth and sports programming in Stanley Mission.
