After over two weeks away from home, the last group of forest fire evacuees is headed back to Uranium City.

The 29 residents that were remaining in Prince Albert were all initially evacuated because they were considered at high risk of developing complications from the heavy smoke — meaning they were elderly, infants, small children or people with chronic respiratory illnesses.

Social Services spokesperson Trish Alcorn says, according to health officials, the smoke has finally subsided.

The evacuees began flying back this morning.
