Last Day For Metis Voters To Pre-Register

Metis voters in the province have until 6:00 tonight to officially get their names on to the registry list for the upcoming Metis Nation of Saskatchewan election.

After tonight’s deadline, they will have to fill out the forms while lining up to vote — a process chief electoral officer David Hamilton says could take much longer to complete.

Hamilton says 2,179 citizens have registered their names to vote so far — and 876 of those people have already voted.

He won’t say whether he considers that a good total for this stage, noting records from previous MNS elections are not readily available.

Hamilton says preparations are going well, and he doesn’t foresee any major problems with the June 27th election.
