Organizers of the Gathering of Northern Elders in La Ronge later this week are estimating the event will draw about 5,000 visitors to the community.
The event is scheduled to take place from June 9th to the 12th at the Elks Fair Grounds.
The gathering will provide a venue for elders to visit with their peers and to pass along their teachings to a younger generation.
Organizers also hope the event will help young people rediscover a sense of pride in their language, culture and heritage.
Spokeswoman Yolanda Bear says music and dance will play a prominent role over the four days.
Premier Lorne Calvert has made plans to make an appearance on opening day.
Bear says they are still looking for more volunteers to help things run smoothly.
If you can volunteer, or you simply need more information about the elders gathering, you can phone 425-5612 or 425-5505.
